Wicca In The Summer
Welcome, Wiccans, Druids, Pagans, Christians and Else. Merry Meet. For those unaware, This is a general greeting by many Wiccans and Pagans. It means we should greet each other happily. The other side when leaving is to say "Merry Meet and Merry Part." Or "Blessed Be." But if you like you may use the modern "Hello." and "Goodbye."
Thank you for coming to read this page. Information is brewing in the cauldron. But the pot doth not yet boil over. So please, be patient as this site may take a while to develop. And patience is only one of the many virtues of The Lord.
This site is being devoloped independently by Crimson Peaceful Wolf, a self-practioner of Wicca and Witchraft for about five years.
Sorry Folks, There currently are no longer any applications.
BY THE WAY. IF YOU SEE SOME QUITE DISTASTEFUL ADVERTISEMENTS, THEY ARE NOT MY OWN. THE BANNERS CAME FREE WITH THE WEBSITE, AND PERSONALLY I DO NOT LIKE SOME OF THEM. THIS WAS NOT ORIGINALLY A PROBLEM, BUT THE ADVERTISEMENT BANNERS THAT CAME FREE WITH THE SITE HAVE GONE QUITE TOWARD THE LUSTFUL NATURE OF MANKIND, AND IT CAN BE QUITE APPALING.
I AM FINALLY OVERCOMING MY DEPRESSION. IT IS STILL A STRUGGLE BUT LIFE IS GETTING BETTER ONCE AGAIN.
*Note: italicized words will be explained in a later passage.
Mis-spellinnings (sic) willl bee corectde at al latter date. Okay, I know, I wasn't blessed with the gift of humor.
What is a Witch?
A commonly asked, and a commonly misunderstood question?
A witch is a conjurer of evil forces, and casts curses to those who they don't like. And they may be Satan worshippers too. Some of them eat babies, and sacrifce cows. You are sure of it! Right?
If you agree with this, you may have some more reading and studying to do. But that really is not my concern it is yours. Just don't harm anyone or anything if you are angered.
Yet I am compelled to give an answer to this question. We will only focus on the noun definitions. In the Oxford American Dictionary And Language Guide the word 'witch' is defined thusly: " n & v (-) n. 1 a sorceress, esp. a woman supposed to have dealings with the devil or evil spirits. 2 an ugly old woman; a hag. 3 a fascinating girl or woman."
How am I not suprised to find such an old definiton of the word, in a book of recent times! As you read these pages, I hope you find that the world(s) of the witch is/are so much larger than these simple descriptions.
A good book to read on this subject is "From Witch To Wicca" by Leslie Ellen Jones. She details the history of the witch from it's stereotypical vewipoint, into what the religion is about today! It is a hard read, but I reccommend it to anyone truly interested about what it really means to be a witch!
Note: "Allow me however to state that I use Wiccan and Witch interchangeably on this site. There is a technical difference between a witch and a wiccan. There is a saying that says "Not all witches are Wiccan, and not all wiccans are witches." Some people have misquoted this and forget the second "not", but not all Wiccans practice the forms of witchcraft, which therefore does not make them official witches, however Wiccans use this term to refer to the religion that is based on beliefs that have had some roots through the use of witchcraft, as a way of taking back a term that was used improperly to define people who were merely different or had different beliefs than other people. There have been many innocent people who were killed for being witches, when it is debateable if any of them really were. Other religions, such as Christianity has had the same sort of persecution. Some people who were witches, were accused of doing impossible things, such as flying on broomsticks, or turning a white man into a black man. These are well documented in public libraries, some of them in Christian sources, and others in other types of sources as well. But let us Wiccans now not be as cowardice as this, and let us not judge the ill deeds of what was done in the past, but let us be the stronger ones who forgive them before they forgive us for our ill deeds, and let us rather look at the God and Goddess inside of ourselves and also at the God and the Goddess in every man, woman, and child, and the creatures and the plants, and all of that which is. These people are a part of us, and we must remember that we are connected, and that we cannot be right to criticize someone for what has happened before, when we cannot turn our own hearts toward the blessings that the Lord and the Lady bestow upon us. Let us be more Christ-like than some of the Christians, in the ways that show no harm to them or to ourselves. And let us pray in secret, and let us keep our prayers and spells silent, for the Gods know what we pray for. Let us be proud that we are Wiccan, but let us not stand in the streets shouting out against anyone, or even shouting how our religion is pure and holy for us, even though it may be pure and holy for us, we do nothing but show how impure our soul really is, by trying to prove to man how pure our soul is. And let us call to attention that the Four Corners are our Guardian Angels, sent by the God and Goddess to protect us, and to help us to know what we should do. We direct them, but they direct us. The Lord and the Lady work through them telling them how to work our spells toward gaining whatever lessons we really need to learn in life. And then they work through us, to fulfill whatever it is that brings us closer to the place of enlightened vision, not in some day future, but moment to moment. The God's never leave us, for the Gods are within us, we are the children of the Gods. Let us be prudent in all of our worship and workings and daily tasks and relationships. For what does it tuly mean that all roads lead to the same place? This means that all the roads are the same road in the end! What does this mean in the form of religion? This means that there is a pure element of love known to every man, and this element of love rests in every person's soul. It may be under other names, but the love, and the knowledge of pure and kind deeds is known to us, if we only find in our souls. It may be locked, but, with the aid of the Great Spirits we can find the key, and unlock treasures which no one can ever see. This is the true teaching of the Wiccan Way, yet far too often we defend our religion in a negative way by criticizing the religion of another. This is not the way a Wiccan should be. We should neither prostlytize nor criticize. We should do the only commandment instead that anyone should follow, and that is to simple Be, and Harm None. Do whatever you want to do, as long as it is pure and loving, and harms neither yourself, nor any person, nor any animal in anyway! Treat everyone and everything for what it truly is, a portion of your own heart and soul and mind, and body. We are all one, and we are all on our way home, so why shouldn't we treat others in this way, even if they do not return the favor?"
"In the introduction of the book, a witch is defined thusly: "What is a witch? The answer would seem to be self-evident: everyone knows that witches wear pointy black hats, black dresses, and often black cloaks; they fly on their broomsticks; their favorite snack is a nice juicy baby; and they are perveyours of potions, curses, and general badness. They are the archetypal villains of fairy tales. Above all, they practice magic.
But there are also the witches of real life, rather than folklore."
I hope you find the meaning of a true witch, whilst reading this page. You may or may not agree with our beliefs, and philosophies. It may be different from your veiwpoint. But remember, your beliefs and philosphies are different from ours too. Yet we trust in one of our mottos: "Your spiritual path is right for you, my spiritual path is right for me." Everyone has a different path to follow. I trust you found the one that leads you to a place of honor, love, patience, and respectability!
A better definition: n. A Witch, may be a person who follows a basic theology or way of life and beliefs with a religion known as Wicca, which is a modern reconstruction of varying belief systems regarding Earth worship, and the observation of the seasons at their onset and in the midst, otherwise they may be known as Wiccan(s). However, some people who simply believe in the use of magick and spells may call themselves witches.
Do Witches wear Pointy Hats? I think I may have seen one once!
Real witches don't usually wear pointy hats, unless at Halloween for fun. Or they are actors in a show about witches. Of course, there is some ironicy of a Wicca wearing sterotypical "witch" regalia. Some witches may have a wizardry, or gypsy style of clothing. Some may wear Gothic clothes. Some wear sneakers, blue jeans, and baseballcaps. Some may be dressed in a suitcoat and tie. And others may be dressed exactly the way you are now. Suprising? Then you really do have a lot to learn.
Is Witchcraft a religion?
Yes. But under law it is either called Wicca, Neo-paganism, or Paganism. Usually Wicca is the preffered term by most Lawmakers.
For more information about Wicca, or Witchcraft as a religion please visit www.religioustolerance.org . This site has a very unbiased and structured view of the Wiccan religion as well as other relgions of the world.
(Soon to come, Paganism, and Witchcraft in the workplace. What the Law has to say about it!)
So, witches don't work with evil forces?
Well...that's not the way others see it. But No. Wiccans try to make positive adjutments to the lives of themselves, the world, and everyone, especially family and friends. Some people in other religions believe that Wiccans work with devils, and deamons, and all sorts of nasty things.
The True Witch would not take this lightly. The best line of response to this I've ever heard is "You are trying to compare my religion to yours. And that's not fair." Fair or not, it is done quite frequently. So then how do we explain it? Wiccans see the world in a quite different context. And to the uninformed it would be easy to make snap judgements. Wiccans sometimes make snap judgements too, especially toward Christianity. This is primarily so, because Wicca and Witchcraft is quite frequently under scrutiny by people of that faith. But Wiccans need to be careful when speaking to people from other religions. Because Wicca is so diverse in itself, it arises a series of complications to outsiders. But Wiccans, see this diversity as a positive thing, and spiritual growth for the indivual or group.
Wiccans also feel that the challenge of Modern Times, is a near reoccurance of The Burning Times. You will have to research that on your own. The most important similarity between Now and Then, is a set of misinformation guided in the minds and hearts between Both the accused and the accuser.
Why so much misinformation?
Wicca is a religion that bases many of its practices on what may be called "The Old Ways." or "The Old Religion." During The Inquisition, people were burned alive because they were accused of being Witches. Witches were considered "evil" by the law of the land. But the Law Maker(s) were sometimes uninformed, and created notions as to what a witch would be. And of course, other notions followed. And many of the people burned, may have not been Witches at all.
This caused a great deal of pain in the Pagan covens, and Pagans had to keep their pracices secret, in fear of Death. Each family had created a way of keeping a Code Of Secret. Some of Wicca is based on these books, the ones understandable anyway.
I have decided to repeal some of my comments about the nature of Christianity, not because they are right or wrong, tru or untrue, but because unhealthy criticism does damage to the soul. Am I angry about some of these issues? Yes and No, it depends. However, I hold my grudge no more toward the certain principles that are not being met.
Let me make some pointers about the truth behind some comments found on this website, www.landoverbaptist.org/news/0702/wiccans.html, which is a paradoy site, and not related to any real religious affiliation.
1. Many Wiccans shower daily. I am one who does such because I believe being dirty is gross, and it grosses me out! The idea of the monthly shower does have a minor value of truth, though this ancient Pagan practice has nothing do with cleanliness. Instead it was more likened to a monthly baptism, for the Spirit of Water. People gathered together under water-falls once a month in or during full moons, many times during the Holy Days. This was a spiritual cleansing of the soul, and not of the body. But to cleanse the soul in this matter, it s usually understood that the body must be cleansed first. However, this practice to my knowledge was very secret, and it is not practiced by many, if any at all, today! And because it was so secret, I am amazed at how this pastor got his knowledge. O wait, nevermind, if you read the text, you'll find alot more of it absurd, he as made an "assuming error."
2. The section about the trinity. Yeah, I have an actual Wiccan reference rather than my personal assuming techniques. All numbers play an important part in Wicca and therefore no number is ever used as a mockery toward any other faith. In "Spirit of The Witch", by Raven Grimassi, p 89 we find that "The belief exists that we are comprised of essentially three inner selves: the lower, the middle, and higher." Also many people see this connection of ourselves as seen as a connection to deity (i.e. the Trinity.) Wiccans are generally accceptant of people from other faiths, yet we despise those who do not seek to find the truth, but rather make poor judgments and just guess as to what we might be, rather than what we are!
What are the Witches' Commandments?
There is only one: "An' it harm none, do what ye will!" Another way I have heard this expressed is "Do what ye will, so be it in love that it harms none."
Though there is only one commandement, there is also The Charge Of The Goddess:
"I, who am the beauty of of the Green Earth and the White Moon amongst the stars of and the Mystery Of The Waters, and the desire of the heart of man; I call thy soul to arise and come unto me. For I am The Soul Of Nature who giveth life to the universe; from me all things proceed and unto me all things must return. You, beloved of The Gods and men, whose innermost divine self shall be enfolded in the raptures of The Infinite, let my worship be in the heart. O, rejoice my children, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals; therefore let thy beauty and strength; power and compassion; honor and humility; mirth and reverence shine amongst you as walk my Creation. And thou who thinkest to seek me, know that thy seeking and yearning avail thee not, unless thou knowest the mystery: that 'if that which thou seekest, thou findeth not within thyself; thou wilt never find it without from thee.' For behold! I have been, since before the beginning, and I am that which is attained at the end of desire! For I am the All. I am within The All. And The All is within me! Blessed be my names!"
And The Charge Of The God:
"I, who am The Sun, The Keeper of the lamp that sends out the light to warm the Earth, the Lord Of The Hunt, The Master Of The Winds that spread the seed of life, I call upon you now to arise and come unto me. Show respect for the wonder of me. Give love to others as I have given you love. Let there dwell within you the magnificence of life, tenderness of heart, the Glory Of Spirit, mastery of emotions and merriment and pleasure. Keep me always in your heart, for I am the giver of peace, the source of life, the Father Of All Things, and my protection blankets the temple of life, the body of The Lady and The Earth. For I Am The All. I am within the All. And The All is within me. Blessed be my names!"
Are there Laws to Wiccan Churches?
Wiccan's and other Pagans may either worship in a Coven or Tradition. The difference between a Coven or Tradition is minimal, basically there is no difference. There are many aspects to Wiccan and Pagan worship settings. Some Wiccans and Pagans worship privately, and they are known as Solitaires. Though they worship alone, many Solitaires sometimes join with others for the Great Festivals (i.e. The {four/eight} Holy Days/Holidays.)
The primary terms for larger group settings, on a regular basis with strcit laws and guidlines within the worshipful setting are Coven, Order and Tradition. A group of less people or less often may call itself a gathering. My group has chosen not to place a name over ourselves, for we felt it deemed that since we all were solitaires and very relaxed, that we did not need to place any level of formailty. Instead, we just all know who everyone us, and that works for us!
Several Covens follow a similar pattern of Laws as is written in The Book of Shadows, by Lady Sheba, of which there are at least one hundred (100). I will list many of these Laws soon enough.
I have participated in one of these, but Spirit moved me away, so that I could learn more outside of tradition, and my life has been blessed since! I have heard rumors that that Secret Society has since become public, and then a few months after, closed down completely. I am now ready to join another Coven, permitting they allow me so, and we shall see from there.
How does Satanism differ from Wicca?
One key point here, is most witches don't believe in Satan! Satanism is a way of attaching negaitive emotions and energies into a personification of evil! Since, Wiccans strive to enhance their lives and those around them, by working with positive energies; such as healing, laughter, meditiation, etc. it would be nearly impossible for them to wroship Satan. Most Witches hate being asked or told that they are Satanists. This is usually because the "accuser" is following a teaching of the uninformed. The person themselves may have been told that a certain symbol represents Satanism. This is especially true of the Pentagram!
It was my destiny to deliver some great information about th Greater Truth, and it to be lost, but not forver. Satan is the Father of All Lies, in Christianity, and I will hopefully be able to give the words of the Goddess about Lying in the near future.
"Lie Not My children as you walk upon the Earth, for you are my divine angels that I have made human. I am the bringer of Truth, and I wish not to hear your lies, which you have created by the very powers I have given you." And there's more, coming soon.
(More to come on this subject soon)
WHAT ABOUT PROSTYLIZATION AND CONVERSION?
Wiccans are forbid to prosylitze. This has been the tradition since, well prior the European witch-hunts. The reason? Wiccans believe that all is one, and one is all. God is everyone, God is Everywhere, therefore everyone and everything is part of God. Most if us, unlike certain members of the catholic faith, believe that the Universe is God. Some people state that the Universe is not God. However many of us, believe that we are all part to play in the Comsic Body of the Universe. We are like tiny atoms in the Gene makeup of the Holy Mother Goddess. This issue brings up much debate even amongst witches and Wiccans.
(More to Come on this subject later!)
What is magick? (coming soon!)
Magick, may be defined as preforming an act in accordance with will. (more soon)
What are spells? (coming soon!)
Spells are somewhat like prayers, but usually preformed through a religious ceromony.
What are rites?
What is the "Oral Tradition?"
The oral tradition is a custom that predates Modern Wicca. Today, the Oral Tradition is not used as quite frequently as it probably was in days of old, such as in the eighteenth century. Pagan cultures were believed to hold many of their religious rituals in secret. And because of this they had to develop an Oral Tradition. Sometimes Code words were often used. Today, in some parts of the country this custom is not followed intently. However, There are those who prefer to hold it.
There are many types of Oral Traditions, however, the most common one is simply telling someone a time and place to meet, and for what purpose, either in code, or directly. Another form is when refering to a magickal something (such as a book or mythical figure) to "beat around the bush." Instead of saying "Have you ever read 'Spiritual Witchcraft?' One might instead say "Have you read that uplifting book on spiritual influences by Grimassi?"
Another form is that of folklore and story telling. Many truths are passed from one path to another, by "leaving clues on the roadside." Much like early explorers would leave hints as to dangers for there followers, so too do Witches for others who come behind them. This is greatly done in literature as well as other arts. This is one of the many customs that is closely related to Native American culture.
I apologize, if you have not yet found what you are looking for. In the words of the Goddess, "I am that which is attained at the end of desire." Keep searching, and ye shall find!
Basic Wiccan Beliefs
- There is no seperation between Creator and Creation.
- All Things are connected to one another.
- Sexuality is Sacred and our bodies are Sacred.
- Religious inspiration comes from nature!
- We have an intimate and personal connection with Deity.
- Each Wiccan is considered to be clergy.
- Magick is real, Magick works, and everyone has the ability to use it.
- What goes around, comes around.
Now let's take a look at each of these beliefs individually. And remember some Wiccan's may follow a slightly or completely different path. Though most of them adhere to #'s 1,2,4 and 5. Some Wiccans do not practice magick themselves, but leave that up to a Priest or Preistess. (This section soon to come)
1. There is no seperation between Creator and Creation. Contrary to some other religions of the world, the Wiccan Worldview veiws the Earth, even the universe as a living being, whom we call Deity or Spirit. The Great Holy Mother Spirit lives in both the Sky and The Ground. We should strive to walk in balance on Mother Earth! Our Goddess (and/or God) is not out there somewhere... God is Everywhere all of the time, even if you do not see him/her. God is in you! A popular pagan saying has been misunderstood by people of other faiths and unfortunately so have people of Pagan religions abused the terminology, and that saying is I am God. We do/did not use this to mean that we individually are "The One True God" or "The Ultimate Power." Instead it should have been a reminder that we are a Part of the whole. Suppose your name was Pete, and your big toe had a concious, it may say in its "mind" "I am Pete." Would it be wrong? We believe that we are a part of the whole existence of Life, and see Life itself in a Spiritual,, Deity form. We can be, and are (even without our knowledge) connected to the Great Powers of The Holy Mother Earth!
2. All things are connected to one another. Again here goes the connection. This is a way to say that everything in the universe is in theory tied to everything else. It is close to the law of cause and effect. Wiccans try to see the broader effects caused by what may be seen as a small cause at first. Lets take a look at Ocean poisoning. Suppose that oil had never been found, but boats were. Until boats contained the oil, there would never be a great oil spill in the sea. But we can go back even further. Suppose that no one had ever thought about trying to sail the sea, after all in the time era the common thought was that a boat would fall off the Edge of the Earth, though the Shamans may have disagreed, if they had known about it. So no boat to carry any oil in. Okay, further back, Wood burns when it gets hot, and bows when it gets wet. Why would anyone want to build a boat out of wood? It will bend at the bottom, and catch on fire at the top, right? No boat made of wood = No boat made of metal = No cargo boat + No oil found = No Oil Carrier which then = No Oil in the Ocean polution. Needless to say, that oil has been used thousands of times, in a positive way for many other usages. But the Whole of the Matter begins very early! The original cause? Well that depends, do you want the immediate cause, or the actual original cause? So there we see a connection between long term causes, building to a "so-called" final effect. You may begin to build a house with a single stone, but what house is it if there are no more stones to be found?
3. Sexuality is Sacred, and Our bodies are Sacred. We should treat our bodies as thou Holy for they are part of the Divine. Our bodies are likened to temples in a sense. Our bodies are not something to be wasteful about, for self destruction, and self mutilation are a form of harming ones-self and ones dignity and respect toward life.
4. Religious inspiration comes from nature. Indeed most of us quote unquote Witches, or Wiccans believe that we live upon and within a Deity. This deity is known to us as The Goddess, or Mother Earth, and to the Native American as The Great Spirit. Our holidays represent the changing of the seasons, and the season in progress in light of this belief. Many Pagan or Wiccan, including alternative Earth Religions share similar holidays. We also see or try to see the progress of life and death in natural cosmic cycles, or likened to a chain of events, in connection with the cyclical nature of well, Nature!
Here is a List Of Four Basic Tools, Used In Religious Ceremonies, or Basic Spell Work: They will be detailed and their meanings shall be explained at a later date!
- Athame. East or South
- Pentacle. North
- Chalice. West
- Incense. East
The Athame, #1, is usually a three to six inch double sided blade with a black.
The Pentacle, #2, has change through the course of time as to what typ of material it is made from. However the shape has not. It is an evenly five pointed star, surrounded by a circle. It was once tradition to make one out of wax.
The Chalice, #3, A goblet, a wine glass. Commonly made from a metalic material.
Incence, #4 there are many types, however most of us use Incence sticks, though some use scented candles.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE VIRTUE OF PATIENCE AS I BUILD THIS SITE!
HERE WILL BE A SECTION OF WICCA AND OTHER RELIGIONS.
Before I discuss this issue, I'd like to Quote from Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer's book "Is Religion Killing Us?"
He writes:
"I WAS TAUGHT THAT RELIGION WAS GOOD, necessary and at the heart of life because it dealt with issues of ultimate consequence and meaning. Much later I learned that what made religion good and necessary also made it prone to intolerance and violence. Religion kills, or more accurately, religion is used to justify killing precisely because issues of ultimate consequence and meaning are understood to be at stake. People rarely kill each other for reasons of religious difference alone. They do frequently use God and religion, however, to justify killing when conflicts escalate between individuals, groups or nations. In the midst of problems rooted in land... religion is often called on to justify human violence with subtle or not so subtle reference to "scared" texts, divine mission, or moral purpose."
The reference he gives is thus: Eknath Easwaran, A Man to Match His Mountains: Badshah Khan, Nonviolent Soldier of Islam. (Berkeley, Calif.: The Blue Mountain Center of Meditation.) I, personally, have not yet made the effort to research this book.
CHRISTIANITY AND WICCA:
Wicca has very few similarites to the veiwpoints in Christianity. Since I am trying to have a positive outlook on this website, I would first like to bring some key things that are the same in these differing religions. Let's take Christianity not from the Old Testament Law, but let's bring the New Testament into account, since it is the part of the Bible that teaches some very similar philosphies to Wicca. However, for now we will not discuss the theory of homosexuality.
Wicca has no set doctine, no dogma to follow. But a few generalizations can be made on paths that intertwine.
1. Love. Wiccans learn about love, by breaking down the Commandment! One version of the commandment is thus: "Do whatever ye wish, so be it in love that harms none!"
This brings a very broad veiwpoint to the world. Which is why certain Pagans are familiar with a certain pantheon (a listing of Deities), whilst others follow a different structure. The point is to love everyone. Love even yourself.. Technically, this is true for the Christian as well. We find this in the verse "Love thy neighbor as thyself." (From Mark 12:31, in The Holy Bible. I found it! Thank the Gods! Blessed They shall be.)
2. Wisdom. Just as the Christian seeks to be wise in God's sight, so does the Witch. In fact it is commonly understood that the word Wicca, has rootwords meaning "Wise One." (these words are Wiccae, and Wicca, somewhere along the lines of "Wise Woman" and Wise Man. Sometimes the word was changed to Wiccaen, or Wiccan. The most commonly preferred terms to call a person of this faith today are "Witch, or Wiccan. And never ask a Witch if they are a good witch or a bad witch? It's simply, not polite. They will probably say something like "I am a person." or what I like to do is say "I try to be good. But sometimes I fail.)
Some Witches love to learn. About their own religion, as well as others. We research, we read book upon book, watch T.V. shows, movies, etc. And we find that Knowledge is a good power to have. But as we learn, we also must remember that wisdom doesn't come from books. But it comes from Life. There are Four Pillars, that hold up THE GATE OF THE SHRINE, leading to THE MYSTERIOUS. One of them is Noescere, or Knowledge.
In The Bible, Proverbs 1:1-6, it reads: The proverbs of Solomon, the Son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To recieve the instruction of wisdom, righteoussness, justice, and equity; To give prudendce to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels, To understand a proverb and the interpretation, the words of the wis and their dark sayings."
And a Witch would agree with the latter part of the next verse...
"...but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
We don't fear our Gods. We pay homage and honor our Gods. We respect the punnishment of causing evil on someone, and we are glad when we are rewarded for our good services. But we have nothing to fear. For all are accepted into Summerland. Everyone returns to Our Lady Of The Light. All souls are equal. So, therefore the part of the verse that reads, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" would be invalid.
There is nothing to fear, other than causal karmic punnishements. There is nothing to be saved from, in the Wiccan philosophy. And there certainly is no eternal punishment.
Yet, we must strive to know more, for Knowledge of good things put into practice can make magick happen!! And though we be the fool, we journey to a place of understanding.
Note: When a Wiccan says "Gods" they are referencing "The All, The Source, Gods and Goddessess."
(More to come on this/these subject(s)
SATANISM AND WICCA
Unforturnately, Wicca is often associated with Satanism. However, there aren't any concrete connections between the beliefs and practices of Wicca and Satanism. I was almost surprised to find that Satanism does follow a system of worship involving the seasons. However, rather than using macick in a positive way for everyone, Satanism uses it for power and control over others, and has an absolute selfish belief system. Indeed, we may use the powers of the Earth for ourselves, and we could use it for ourselves alone without any regard to others.
Witches, work to promote there own spirituality so that we can help others and the Earth around us.

THE SPLENDID WONDER OF OUR GOD!
This picture came with this site. But I left it up, so that you may see one of God's faces, here in our modern world. The streetlamp shows a common site for a "City Witch"!
