IF ONLY WICCA HAD A BIBLE!!
Well, technically there are thousands of Wiccan Bibles!
THE WICCAN BIBLE? THERE ISN'T JUST ONE?
But they aren't always called Bibles. They aren't always available for the public to read. The truest form of a Wiccan Bible, is the Earth herself, The Sky, and Love. And that is up to interpretation. And that mystery in itself is so great, and so wonderful, it is awe inspiring. Nature is Our Deity. But Nature lies within our very being as well.
- Earth, my body.
- Water, my blood.
- Air, my breath.
- Fire, my spirit.
These are the quarters, or (the four) corners, the guardians, the archangels, etc. You will learn of them later as well.
WHAT ABOUT CREATION?
If Wiccan Bibles began like the Holy Bible, Christians use, it would start off something like this:
THE CREATION STORY
(OUR WORLD)
1. O' Hear Children of Our Mother, the story of Her Wonderful Work, Both Great and Mysterious.
2. Long, long ago there was a time when the world slept in the arms of a dark void. It was nowhere. And from this place of nothingness, Spirits drew together into One, though they had never been seperate, and created Our Lady of infinite love. They had been before, and now They return again. This was before our time.
3. The Lady began to dance, and continues to dance now, as she will until forever. And in that time, she will begin anew! Yea, Our Lady danced among the heavens, her feet beating out the rythm of all creation.
3. Sparks of Beautiful light, golden and silver catapulted from her hair, giving birth to the stars and planets. As she twirled, these heavenly bodies began to move with her in the divine symphony of the universe. When her dancing quickened she formed the seas and the mountains of The Earth.
4. She chanted these words in her language, "Love." "Beauty." "Joy." and as the sound of these words fell to The Earth, the trees, flowers, and plants of all sorts were born.
5. From the pure white light of her breath came the colors of the universe, turning all things to vibrant beauty. For white is her color. Thus, she shall be known as The Lady Of The Light. She is our Mother Goddess. Blessed be her names!
6. And from her bubbling laughter in her throat sprang the sounds of the pristine running water of the streams, the gentle lapping vibrations of the lake, and the roaring screams of the oceans; for She is a happy Goddess, and she is fearsome, and wonderful. She holds a beauty none else can bear! Blessed Be The Lady, for her tears of joy became the rains of our survival!
7. Yet one day, her dancing slowed, and the Lady sought out a companion, to join her in her dance, and to share in the wonders of the world. So, Our Great Mother, created the God, The Lord Of Laughter, as her lifemate and companion.
8. Because she so loved the Earth, and the Lord had shown a love toward the Earth, The Lady handed him a crown of horns. She had made him a half-spirit, and a half animal, so that together The Lord and The Lady could populate our Planet. So that we could share in Her Marvelous work! And so that she would have us, to give her love to.
9. The Lord's power moved through her, and she showered the Earth and all upon it with her blessings. Together the Lord and Lady had a loving and embracing sexual encounter, giving birth to the birds, animals, fishes, and people of our world.
10. But the Lord and Lady knew, before it was too late, that the people on the planet would need guardians, so they took a few stars that The Lady had made, and together they crafted the angels and other powerful spirits to protect and guide the humans, to lead them back into Her arms, if they shall ever forget her love. These energies walk with us always, though we often cannot see them.
11. And yet, The Lady, and Lord, knew this would not be enough. So to each bird the Lady gave a magickal song, and to each animal the Lord bestowed the instinct to survive.
12. The Lord, respects the crown given to him. He is The Master of the animal and vegetable kingdoms, and therefore the crown given to him has been transformed into the antlers of a stag.
13. By wearing this, forevermore, as showing the aspect of half man, and half animal, He shows his splendid joy in both the human and animal creations of the First Spirits, which are all of us, the Lady, and The Lord. For this is our birthplace. The Lord revels in this image. Yea, Children Of Our Mother, I say unto thee, worship our wonderful Lord and Lady. Blessed be all of Their name(s).
14. Yet, more to this tale, I shall tell thee. As the humans began to grow and prosper, the Lord and Lady saw the need for healers among their own kind. And so they brought unto themselves the angels and the power animals, and the power of Life. They drew forth energies from the realm of angels, the realm of the power animals, and the realm of the humans to create Witches.
15. At first, the humans accepted The Witches, and treated them fairly, but because the Witches were different, other humans began to fear the Wise Ones of The Lord and The Lady. Thus as you shall read later in this book (not really, but if this were a Bible, it may say something to that sort), The Witches became The Hidden Children, conducting their rites of positive energy in secret lest they risk capture and death at the hands of fearful humans.
16. The Lady was not pleased. Her anger bellowed, but she waited. She knew what she had hoped for, would soon come into being. As the world grew darker with the ignorance and hate of the human creation, the Lady took the body of The Moon to represent Her perfect peace, and the Lord took the vibrant rays of The Sun as His symbol of strength in perfect love.
17. And once a month, when the moon is full, the Witches celebrate and remember the blessing Our Mother has bestowed upon us. We call forth Her energy to help us take care of ourselves, our families, our planet and our friends. Yea, even Our enemies, though this lesson is one not easily learned! For the Lady Loves none differently. We are a part of her Wonderful Greatness, and She of ours. Blessed Be both The Lord and The Lady. Blessed and Holy They shall be until forever!
18. Make praise unto Them, as you watch the stars dance in the heavens. For They are Magnificent! And they are Everything! So Mote It Be. And Amen!
--Story adapted from "Teen Witch Wicca for a New Generation."
Yes, this is completely different from Christianity. But there is something of a similarity if you look for it. The Bible specifies a certain ammount of time it took to create the Earth. The Wiccan Creation story handed down from Generation to Generation is probably different than the first versions. But we do know that in Pagan cultures, there never was a seperation between Creation and Creator. Whereas, "God made the heavens and the Earth." In Wicca, a part of Everyone made the heavens and the Earth, and even Ourselves, for the Lady and The Lord, are not only external from us, but they live within us as well. "If that which thou seekest thou findeth not within thyself, thou shalt never find it." --a Wiccan Credo, in the words of Our Lady.
